| Hey I want to start a communal but i dont know what species is a good beginner communal. And I dont want a communal that requires alot of humidity like emps. All sugestions are welcome  | |

| V. spinigerus like it on the dry side, but I've heard mixed success about their communal habits. Some don't have a problem, others have lots of cannibalism.
Someone's invariably going to say B. jacksoni, but I wouldn't call those beginner. Great species, yeah, but not to start out with. | |

| I dont think there are any communal that are "desert" at any age.
I think they play nice and better if they are the ones who like humidity. Havent some people been able to sometimes ... but the ones that can possibly be communal arent they a buthus? and not a beginer scorpion....maybe im getting all tangled and confuzzled.
But from what I Know *which probably isnt a lot* I thought only mostly humid or that sorta thing can be with another, one two...maybe a whole group of them with the space. But I though the desert and etc dont play well....im sure someone will chip in soon enough

| I think we did a double-post there, Connie! There's plenty of communal species from both dry and humid environments, but the majority of those that are more suited to hobbyists with less experience are the humidity-lovers. | |

| Cavimanus are more prone to cannibalism than emps, but they too require high humidity. | |

| C.Vittatus, although they do need the humidity to be a tad high. 65-75%
You can have sand mixed with some other water retaining soil.
And stick bark shards or something for them to climb on. | |

| C. hentzi are great communal scorpions
the Humidity factor doesn't have to be that high
when i place them in an ten gal ten with 20 to 30 of them, i don't keep the substrate damp all the time, for we do have sandy eares too, so i will pour water in all 4 corners of the tank and mist them 2 to 3 times a week and all of my C. hentzi do just great and breeds like they are still in the wild.
With all of what i had saif of how i keep that is even with an open tank or a screen lid, i have no problems at all | |

| also, i don't keep them in an high temps either, like 75 to 78 degrees
cuz i notice in the wild looking for them i find them in more numbers at those temps even as low as 60 degrees.
Most of the time with the 70 temps i find more momas with babies more that i do in tenps of 90 or high like the souther Ga temps are | |
