ok..so here is my problem...almost all inverts are banned in pet stores in New-Brunswick. And I'm currently looking for either a red claw or a flat rock to add to my list of pets....problem is....i dont know where to get these outside of NB...anyone know good mail order places in Canada, or the states. that would ship to Canada?(i live in Moncton NB, its -20C here, does that really matter for shipping?)
while being on topic, i want a scorpion that would be a bit more active than my emperor...any suggestions?

Well reading your post I think you want something big and tropical so I'd go for any Heterometrus species. Or a red claw. Paninus cavinus is also a bit more active. To get these I would search the net. http://www.nwinverts.com has some. http://www.swiftinverts.com/scorps.htm has some more. -Eddy

Flat rocks "Hadogenes paucidens" do not fit into the category of more active... here is a video I shot of mom and babies. They are freaks when disturbed and skittish when in the open, that is why they stay hidden mostly ALL the time.

Flatrocks is great beginners, the weakst venom in the scorpion world, and easy to handle for new ones

Yeah, but as Thaedion said, they're very skittish. The second time I handled mine it almost ran up my pant leg, and the most recent time it leapt off my hand and skittered off the table and fell onto the floor.
But still, cute, easy to take care of, and (I think so, anyway) cool-looking.

Well you should allways handle your scorps when its on a safe distance to something abit soft or low to the floor...

It was a safe distance to the table -- but that wasn't good enough for the scorp. (He was uninjured; I was more worried about outreach-goers panicking and stepping on him (no one did).)
