New here. Im from Oregon & just started getting into inverts I have 21 scorps & 1 T, soon to be 2 whenever I find an adult Avic.
I have 24 baby/2nd instar C. vittatus. I have them in a 6 inch petri dish with all of the neccessities but at what length can I move them into their perminant 20 gallon tank? Thanks the help. Please pass along any info on this species, I will be doing a search as well. Kim

I wouldn't put them in a 20 gal just yet, 2i's are a bit to small for that yet... it would probably be difficult for them to catch and find prey, in such a large tank, when they are so small.

Hi Kim, and welcome! cheers

First off, I would suggest separating them all into individual containers -- while bark scorpions are very communal as adults, this is not the case with juveniles.

Second, as they are bark scorpions, they need something vertical to hang from when they molt. I would suggest placing them in individual vials with a little bit of substrate at the bottom and a piece of bark leaning against the side for them to molt from. Make sure that there's a spot they can hang from where it's at least 2x their body length to the ground.

You can put them together in the 20-gallon when they're mature, at around 2" in length (including metasoma).

This species tolerates a wide range of temperatures and humidities -- I would suggest keeping them warm and a little more on the humid side (this also helps with molting), but with plenty of ventilation. If they're skinny, offer prey, and if they're fat, don't.

Good luck with these guys! I'll have a brood myself before too long.

Am I the only one who noticed this was a question thread and not a welcome thread? scratch My welcome was just an aside to the advice.
