Tarantulas Empty
PostSubject: Tarantulas   Tarantulas Empty10/20/2008, 3:29 am

Hi again everyone Smile
Just posting some pictures of my T's, don't have that many scorpions yet, so i might as well put out some pictures of my tarantulas instead!

This was my first T, a Grammostola rosea 0.1:
Tarantulas Grammo10

Grammostola rosea RCF 0.1 This is infact my most aggressiv T! It bites at everything that comes in biting range, but she will also jump or/and run after you trying to bite you !
Tarantulas Grammo12

Grammostola aureostriata, juvenile, don't know which sex yet, but she looks that she will molt soon, so I hope I can determine the sex after that Smile
Tarantulas Grammo11

One of my newest tarantulas, a real beauty, Avicularia versicolor 0.1 Very Happy
Tarantulas Avicul11

Tarantulas Avicul12

Also one of the new beauties, Aphonopelma seemani BCF 0.1
Tarantulas Aphono10

Nhandu chromatus, not determined the sex yet, but after the last molt it had really long legs, so I think it may be a he...
Tarantulas Nhandu11

This Haplopelma lividum 0.1, I picked up from my local pet store. She was in really bad shape when I got her! The people who worked in the store was to afraid to do any maintenance in her terrarium, she had about 1 inch of substrate, and the terrarium was bone dry, with no water dish! When I transferred her to the terrarium I had built for her, she went straight to the water dish, and drank for about 5 minutes straight.

The first two weeks I had her, she wouldn't show any aggression at all! But after one week she started eating, and within a month she was much more aggressive!
It was a very happy moment for me the first time she went in a defensive posture Smile
The next months she did not dig, she had a hiding place she used, but she did not dig. But lately she have dug some, and even tough it was nice to see her every day, I'm more happy when she acts like a Haplopelma Smile
It was quite bad timing tough, she's getting a new enclosure next week, and now it's going to be much harder to catch her Tarantulas 8072
Tarantulas Haplop11

Tarantulas Haplop10

As you can see in the pictures, she doesn't have that bright cobalt blue color lividums are known for, but I hope she will get her colors after the next molt! I think she is really beautiful anyway, and H.lividum is one of mye favorite T's Very Happy

oh poor lividum. Personally I think it's wrong for a shop to stock something they cannot properly care for... wont happen in ours when we open up.

As for her colouration, is she an adult? if she is she might be the paler colourform, the one where they keep a brown coloured carapace . Could it also be through the bad conditions she was kept in anyone??? Anyway glad to hear she's back to her normal self.

We have a juvi female and an adult female... the dark colour form where she looks black at first then under fluorescing light she looks blue. And she's chuffing HUGE!

We also have a rosie who is that laid back she is horizontal!

As for the Avic... I love the really fluffy ones! they are almost cuddly lol!

And we have a pretty rogue collection... some nice rare ones... but you dont want to put ya fingers anywhere near them! And I'm adding some pokies to the collection soon... whether stigg likes it or not Smile Smile Smile

How cool, you're opening a pet store? Smile

She is an adult yes, but she's not fully grown! I do not know much about her, because the people who worked in the shop didn't know anything.... Not how old she was, how many molts have had, if she was wild caught or breed in captivity etc....
It's a shame that people that work in pet shops only know how to take care of hamsters and rabbits, many keep tarantulas and scorpions, but few have any knowledge about them(at least it's like that many places in Norway).

My NCF rosea isn't to nice either, it varies from day to day Razz But as I said earlier, the RCF is a total psycho!

Avicularias are awesome! I only have versicolor for now, but there will be many more in the future Very Happy

I don't have any pokies either, but they're on my list Wink

we're going down the full reptile and arachind route coz 8 legs alone wont pay the rent. we're hoping to have it sorted soon... but there's a lot of work that needs to go into it lol!

Failing that we will just become private breeders doing the odd stall at shows and stuff.

And lol @ graham, short skinny and aggressive indeed!

Love the chromatus, fantastic Ts aren't they. Smile

The seemani looks great too, does it normally look black? Mine look rather blue in photos.

Wow, that sounds awesome Ladyriotcontrol! Yeah I bet there's a lot of work, but the final result will be some much better when you put some effort in to it! Smile

Chromatus are awesome! I love them to! What a Face

This is a blue color form A.seemani and they look more blue than NCF. But the blue color isn't that easy to spot when it's dark, but when put a light on it, or take a picture with a flash, you will see that they are alot bluer than the normal color form, who would look more black! I think both phases are very pretty Smile
