| After talking with Canth, apparently there ARE a lot of scorpion species in Mexico, but only one Tityus species.
If it's a Centruroides or Tityus (and some Centruroides have subacular prongs), you can differentiate the two by the number of rows of denticles on the fixed finger of the chela.
Centruroides = seven to nine rows
Tityus = 10 to 17 rows
Start of the key: http://wrbu.si.edu/scorpions/sc_key_NA/nakey01.html
If it's one of those two genera: http://wrbu.si.edu/scorpions/sc_key_NA/nakey02.html _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blog Be nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |
