| I am a complete newbie here, but bought a male and female "Asian Forest". I saw some of the older threads and I noted the excellent links. No need to post those, I will do some research on it, but I'd really appreciate your trained eyes with help in id-ing these. I noticed the carapace is mostly smooth. Thanks for your help in advance! | |

| Looks to be either H. laoticus or H. petersii. I can't tell if they have carapace granulation or not. | |

| Thank you! There is some minor granulation on the margins. Also, the female's chelae are more "bulbous"--but maybe this is natural variability of traits | |

| If there's some granulation, it's an H. petersii. | |

| Great! Thanks, scorpion19981000! Are these two species the most common in pet shops these days? | |

| H. petersii seems to be the most common. | |
