PostSubject: another Heterometrus so.   6/2/2014, 6:22 pm

I am a complete newbie here, but bought a male and female "Asian Forest". I saw some of the older threads and I noted the excellent links. No need to post those, I will do some research on it, but I'd really appreciate your trained eyes with help in id-ing these. I noticed the carapace is mostly smooth.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Looks to be either H. laoticus or H. petersii. I can't tell if they have carapace granulation or not.

Thank you! There is some minor granulation on the margins. Also, the female's chelae are more "bulbous"--but maybe this is natural variability of traits

If there's some granulation, it's an H. petersii.

Great! Thanks, scorpion19981000! Are these two species the most common in pet shops these days?

H. petersii seems to be the most common.
