heya,
Today I bought this beautiful scorpion.
It was housed in a small terrarium in a local shop here in rome, for like 1 and a half years, without being bought, poor soul.
3months ago the female of the couple was bought, and he was left alone. Sadly during this time he lost the tip of the telson, like 6 months ago, i don't know why and noone in the shop did understand how it did (they are trustworthy people).
the scorpion is in good shape, eats and drinks regularly.

but without further ado,
I've been told he's an heterometrus spinifer, but it doesn't look like one to me (i tried to look for charts about shapes and granulations).
From what I saw around the net, it looks a bit like a petersi or a laoticus, but it does seem to have a bit of granulation that the laoticus should lack, as i think i understood.
it has also fairly flat pedipalps and a brownish telson.

i'm attaching some pictures that i hope will help you shed light on this beautiful creature, so i can look for a female of the same species...
thanks in advance!

thanks man!
I hope to find what it is soon so i can get a proper companion. It was the male of a couple, that already mated together and then the gravid female was bought, so i ruled out longimanus just because the pedipalps don't look very long as a male of that specie should have...but again, i can totally be wrong, i'm a newbie so i'm learning from whoever wants to jump in and help!

It's a Heterometrus petersii from the granulation and small (not pronounced) internal tubercle on the patella.

Definitely not a H. laoticus, I can see the granulation from a mile away. Nor is it a H. longimanus, they typically have red telsons and the pedipalps of H. longimanus are pretty distinctive.
