Is he about to molt?

Ok so my emperor has been acting strange the past week. He's been under his hide the entire time, never coming out at all, not even at night. And he also hasn't eaten anything for this whole time, I'll put a cricket infront of him and he won't eat it.

The only time I could ever see him is if I remove the hide and he gets startled and moves erratically in the same spot and assumes a very defensive position, but never leaves that corner of the tank. I just put the hide back on top of him.

Is he about to molt or is there something wrong with him? I just bought him about a month ago and he's still very young, only about 2-2.5inches in length.

Most usually molt inside the burrow. Some molt outside (if the conditions feel right to them). You'll know their done when you see their old exoskeleton outside the entrance of their burrows as they usually push it outside

*UPDATE*....I checked him today and he's gotten fatter and his exo is more translucent so it looks like it will be a molt after all!

Absolutley! I keep checking everyday but the little guy still hasn't come out from under his hide. As soon as it happens I will take some pictures or possibly even a video if I'm lucky enough to see him molting

just keep it nice and moist, you can help the Emp, by checking air humidity regularly and keeping it high up. Just make sure you have proper ventilation so you avoid any nasty things attracted by high humidity. Leave it be, and you will have a nice juicy little Emp soon;)

Thanks....I keep misting it twice a day and I have 4/5th of the top covered in cyran plastic wrap, I hope all turns out well.
