| Very interesting article! These little mice probably developed this immunity to eat the bark scorps. | |

| Evolutionary arms-race in action! It's possible the predation of the mice are the whole reason why C. sculpturatus venom is so potent, compared to other members of the genus. The more resistant the mice get, the more venomous the scorpions will get, in time.
This is likely why many buthids are so excessively venomous; meerkats and mongooses also display resistance to buthid venom, due to androctonus being a major portion of their diet in the wild. The major predator of Deathstalkers are bats, which also display immunity to the venom, which is amazing, considering just how toxic leiurus is.
California ground squirrels are resistant to scorpion and rattlesnake venom, and can survive several direct strikes, in this case, both species will prey on one another.
Yet another example being the relationship between Taricha newts, and garter snakes, the toxins were evolved to protect them from the snakes, but the snakes just get more and more resistant to the venom, resulting in one of the most toxic animals on earth.
Life FTW! | |

| Most hedgehogs (especially ones with african pygmy ancestry) are highly resistant, if not, immune to scorpion venom as scorpions are included in their desert diet. I also learned that golden skinks are immune to scorpion venom levels 1 to 3 as they could eat live, mouth-sized scorps. (I did en experiment, sorry ) | |

| Well I can tell you that after having been tagged by striped bark scorps (C vit) several times as a kid in central Texas that I have not yet become immune to their venom! Ouch! I would have thought that I would be old enough by now for evolution to work LOL! | |

| Haha venoms are special proteins i dont think humans are evolved enough to be immune to it. There are indigenous tribes in the Philippines called mangyan where the townspeople would intentionally let vipers bite them as they believe it is a cure for many ailments. Believe it or not, no one suffered enevenomation or died. It has venom dripping on its fangs when i saw it on tv, no cuts, so i doubt its a venomoid or a hoax. Really hair raising lol

| Some people that work with venomous snakes will inject themselves with small amounts to try to get some immunity over time. Also, I have heard that birddogs can become somewhat resistant to rattlesnake venom after several bits. | |
