Okay so this has me so freaking geeked out!!! I got my 4.5" female, Maylee on September 19th so last month and she is housed in a 40 gallon breeder with 7" ecoearth as well as many larger rocks and log hides, etc. Well she truly never ever came out from under her log hide. To feed her I would just lift it up and feed her. She was nearly always in the same spot. Temps are always between 80-89 on one side and 75-80 on the far other side. She chills on the hotter side. Well she doesn't burrow or dig or do anything really lol. Then yesterday I bought a male that is 5.5" and has larger pinchers. I fed him a nice fat superworm before putting him in and took her out of the enclosure for the awesome 4 hours he took to eat. cheers headb lol Then i placed them both in on opposites sides and hoped for the best... Well instant heart attack because they both knew within seconds that the other was there. And she didn't hesitate.. at all she straight up went for him and just complete pushed him back.... not pinching or stinging. she just kept pushing his pinchers up really high and pushing him back. I was terrified that they were not going to work out cohabitating. But then she had his butt making her a burrow in less than 15 minutes. haha and now she is all kinds of exploring and running around. Coolest thing though... she somehow wedged herself into sort of getting stuck between a rock and the glass ( rock has now been moved further from glass) but anyways I was considering interfering and helping her out (literally hehe) but then he actually came over and got under her and slowly lifted and pushed her up until she could fall sideways and out. It was the most amazing display of loyalty and companionship. I had no idea scorpions were like that. My main question now though is when/if they breed and she has her babaies will he be a threat then? To her or the babies? Or if I keep the right temps, humidity, hides, and feeding going on will they all be okay in my 40 gallon breeder tank safely?

I want to assume you're talking about P.imperator or some sort of Heterometrus species right? They'll be fine together maybe some initial fighting but they'll be sharing a hide in no time make sure you have a flat surface for mating. And actually I would allow the female to be alone in that enclosrue for at least two weeks get her phermones all over the place to get the male ready for mating. But even cohabiliting they eventually get to it. As for the babies they'll most likely be fine but it wouldn't hurt any to seperate the male either when they're born.
* I came in through the portal had no idea it was in the P.imp section...duh...sorry about that but my advice still stands.

Thank you so much for your reply :)I had the female emperor in the enclosure for a month before buying the male. Then I took her out for a few hours and placed them in separate critter keepers next to one another and fed him and offered food to her and then placed them both in the enclosure together but on opposite sides (its a 40 gallon breeder) Within 15 minutes they were building a burrow and have been inseparable since (3 days)        2 PICTURES OF ENCLOSURE, THEN THE MALE, THE MALE ON TOP, AND THE FEMALE ON BOTTOM, THEN THE FEMALE.         Just added a male in with my female to cohabitate together.... 97EA9A71-0299-4C2B-9E31-8DA46DA09631-58775-000007C87FFAF6C0_zps6fd72140     Just added a male in with my female to cohabitate together.... +1 to Eddy.

Great looking enclosure you have there; lots of room. Smile

Thank you... They have now dug their burrow to the bottom. I added some moss and fake leaves and what not about the enclosure to give it a more realistic feel for them to have safe places to hide and roam around instead of just a nice smooth clean surface. Plus its cooler watching them roam the minor obstacles. haha. I actually haven't seen ither one out in 2 days. not even at night, but when I shine a light in there the male is close to the entrance just waiting for something to dare enter. I threw a couple dubias down the hole last night. They seem to be doing well together. She is actually doing much better it seems since he was introduced in the enclosure. I would like to add another pair, but I don't know if I could get two breeding pairs to live communally without risking their health (lost limbs/life, etc) or if I would only be able to add more females? Any ideas on this matter? Its a 40 gallon breeder tank so I should in theory be able to have more than 2 emperors in there correct? they are both under 5". I am also concerned about whether they will be as docile to one another once she has babies. Or will they fight and he try to eat the young? Any information from someones experience is more than appreciated.
