ok im not a scorpion guy...i like them but never been into collecting them really.. had 2 emperors and they were cool..but i digress.. i found these 2 guys, two separate times and was wondering what they were? The first two shots are of the same one and the third is obviously the other one. and if you happen to have a "common" name id greatly appreciate it as well lol

1st Vaejovis spinigerus in think the name was revised to (Hoffmannius spinigerus) or it is a Vaejovis sp - stripe-tailed scorpion or the "devil" scorpion

2nd Centruroides vittatus- striped bark scorpion.

To be honest though common names mean nothing there are many different common names for scorpions and makes it difficult for people to know exactly what sp you are referring to. For example when someone say "Fat tail" there are so many different sp that scorpion could be from A. australis to P. transvaalicus it could refer to a large number of scorpions in the Buthidae. Scientific names are universal they do not change unless there is a scientific revision. It is still the same name if you speak a different langue its the same in german, english, spanish, french, russian. It will always be a constant.

never thought of it like that lol.. but yea its the same with fish too..(ima big salt water guy lol)

the first one i figured was ok(as in not dangerous) i was told it was a "desert hairy" scorpion, Hadrurus arizonensis juvenile) the second one i wasnt sure if it was an "Arizona bark" Centruroides exilicauda or not. Idid what every non-know it all does and goodled it lol..and there were a few photos of Centruroides exilicauda that looked like this one, and some that didnt so after days of searching and looking at (SORRY SCORPION FANS) tons of pctures that all looked the same to me...figured id ask being that I am in New Mexico close to El Paso TX and theres quite a few different species of them around

the Centruroides vittatus is a colourform from xeric habitat that are mostly those are found in new mexico. Which is a variation in color do to habitat and locality. At first i thought it was a Centruroides exilicauda "Gertchi form" (which the scientific name has been revised to C. sculpturatus) but i looked at it again and can say i am confident that it is a C. vittatus.
