Hey all trying to breed A. bicolors and so far both attempts have been unsuccessful the male has been with the female for 2 nights now and the only action that has happened is the female dug a under a new rock....haha! The male wont come out from under his slate. What should I do? Please help me get some bicolor babies haha.

Thank you

You don't see any spermatophore anywhere on the hard surfaces? Have they come into contact with each other at all? It could be that the one of them aren't mature? The actual mating could be over in a short amount of time so maybe there is a chance you missed it.

If they're mature I would seperate the male from the female for at least a week then introduce the male to the female enclosure.

Hey guys thanks for the input here is a picture of the male (top) and female (bottom) in comparison to a U.S. quarter.

Breeding attempt number 2 failed Male_f10

I dont see any spermatophore anywhere and when both came in contact with each other they instantly startled but like Abyss mentioned I put them both in at the same time and didnt wait which was my problem I believe. Hopefully I have 2 mature specimens if I could have your advice on them that would be great Smile I am gonna feed and hydrate them well and then in a week Ill go ahead and give it another try.

Thank you

Intoducing the male to the female is impotant you'll notice his pectines moving around like crazy as he picks up on her phermones.

Very true that is what I am going to do now but I have a weird feeling my female isn't a bicolor or it isn't exactly mature yet? If you look at the metasoma on the female (bottom) it looks not as fat as the males also when she walks she doesn't exactly carry it over her head like the male does when he walks. I am also not seeing as much secondary coloration as the male does on her chelae. My main concern is with the metasoma though. It's not as fat as the males and it's not carried the same when she walks which leaves me thinking is she mature??? Also is she of a different subspecies???? I'm pretty sure she is mature because of her size but her metasoma is leaving me stumped!!!!!?????

Any help would be much appreciated and if pictures are necessary ill try to get some more up of her.
Smile
