more C. gracilis babys, keeping them all ! 2 more broods coming...

hey,

I just separated my adult male and female C. gracilis...

I have 4 male, 5 female.....

all the females are or were gravid when I got them....

three had babys, and 2 more are going to have babys in the next few weeks.....

so far I have about 90 baby C. gracilis, and I have about another 60 on the way...

I decided to keep them all....

the babys are in a ten gallon tank rite now

when they are sub-adults I plan on moving male and female into there own 20 gallon high tanks.

crickets are starting the get expensive with all these baby

Get a Blaptica dubia colony.

as these babys get older.....

am I going to be able to tell difference in male and female from tail length ?

or do the males only have the long tails at there final molt ???

Only males have the longer metasomas.

how long untill they mature ??

They mature at 7th instar, and the difference can be told at 6th instar.

I have 13 baby scorpions in a 16 oz. deli container

and I have 12 more babys in another 16 oz. deli container

the other 25 babys are hiding in the cracks of the cork bark

I just have to wait until they come out, I see them in there.

and I have the mother with the babys in the same tank as the other babys.

im purchasing a blacklight to help me find the scorpions and get them into deli containers

It's difficult to tell the sexes apart until 6th instar. You might be able to tell earlier if you compare them side by side.

Also, females will mature at 7th instar while males may mature at either 6th or 7th instar. (Mine matured at 6th.) Small males appear to mature earlier than larger males
