Centruroides exilicauda Empty
PostSubject: Centruroides exilicauda   Centruroides exilicauda Empty4/14/2013, 8:23 pm

So many years ago i had a very terrible envenomation form one of these little guys. She started to crawl out of the container so i put my hand in front of her to stop her escape. she tagged me on my right index finger. It was a long time ago but ill try to remember the events hour by hour. Immediately my hand was on fire in terrible pain. It the pain moved up my arm within 2 hours and my hand looked like a marshmallow and was 3 sizes to big. I experienced bursts of paralysis in my hand and parts of my arm where i lost control of motor functions. I have sports induced asthma and at the 3rd or 4th hour i could feel my longs starting to constrict and breathing became very difficult i figured it had triggered my asthma so i used my inhaler and was lucky that it corrected that symptom and was able to breath better in less than 10 minutes. I experienced nausea and light head. The rest of the day was kinda just a blur but the entire experience lasted maby 24 hours. It was very scary in hindsight i probably should of gone to the hospital but i was young and naive and thought i was invincible. It was defiantly a pretty bad reaction to the venom i feel. Probably one of the most painful things iv ever experienced in my life.

Would you say these would be symptoms of an allergic reaction? Or are these all symptoms of the venom itself?
