So...  Surprise !!!
Laughing

Ok.. no excuses....
I did it again  Cool

I am not going to bore you guys with personal issues, but I am having a very rough time in my Life. And I am trying to stay strong. And I need myself some scorpions because they are my passion, and my passion keeps me going, and makes me want to get up in the morning.

Today I went to the Expo... and found underneath a pile neatly stacked scorps this very active and feisty little Androctonus Australis. And I was think about my Obi lately and you never forget that first Buthid. This is a complete different scorpion and I love it's feistiness, it was not afraid of me, and actively tried to get to my finger when in the deli cup. I found it a strong and healthy animal and loved it immediately.

I knew I wanted it...
I knew I needed it...
So I bought it.....

So here it is...

Not clear what sex it is I am speculating female by the larger distance between the pectines, but further study might be necessary....

I am making her a custom enclosure tomorrow :)For now it resides in a temporary setup which will do for now.

Please enjoy for your necessary scorpion addiction maintenance....

Solo, Androctonus Australis

Hey y'all:)

Been busy pretty much all day...
Yesterday night I went to get a little custom made glass tank with a halogen spot.
This morning I went to the pet store for a custom background.
And then I started fiddling around....

===========================================================

P!NK - Just Give Me A Reason....

Right from the start
You were a thief
You stole my heart
And I your willing victim
I let you see the parts of me
That weren't all that pretty
And with every touch you fixed them

Once again, super impressive enclosure Joey! I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties but what better way to take your mind off things than engrossing your self in creating a bit of desert in a tank Very Happy

What light fitting are you using for the halogen bulb? Do you have a link to it?

Thank you very much !
Exactly, what better way to take your mind of, of things.
Thank you for your concern.

I believe it is called ceramic, is a sort of porcelain-ish looking thing.
The halogen gets very hot, and normal fittings might actually melt, ceramic can withstand extreme heat.

It was pre installed when I got the tank but if you google ceramic fitting you'll get exactly the right thing.

Thanks Shane!
I love her very much, and I really didn't realize how much I missed having this species around.
I really enjoy having a new Androctonus Australis, and even though I didn't plan on getting one, I'm very very happy I did.

I am guesstimating third or fourth instar:) I personally think late 3 or 4 because she doesn't have the bulky metasoma yet, and she does have sight red coloration on the chela, she has IMO more color than third instar, however I have not much to base it on.

I personally call her third instar.
Perhaps someone with breeding experience with this species can watch the videos and photos and tell me otherwise.

She is nice and plump, and a good eater.
My previous A.A. almost never ate but Solo is a real tiger, very active at night, wandering about, and exploring.
She dug a little pit under the wood, and then decided to accept my pre dug one under the rock, I really am happy with the overall result of the enclosure and love seeing her explore it:)
