PostSubject: Eugh...still not eating and a bit concerned now :/   5/28/2013, 5:52 pm

Bonnie is still not eating. It's been about 6 weeks now and I know for sure she hasn't eaten a thing. I count them in and count them out again.

She's been tried on cockroaches, hoppers (2nds, and 3rds), waxworms, mealworms, crickets, and she is just not interested at all.

She spends either all of her time sitting underneath her little log (especially on the side where I can see her through the gap teehee), or in a corner, or scrambling behind her fake plant -I thought I had lost her today!! But then I found her behind the plant- phew!!

But anyway, so she hasn't eaten at all and Im getting really concerned. Should I be considering taking her to a vet any time soon?

She doesn't look amazingly healthy either to me although I am not an expert at all. Bronson has eaten and at least shjows quite a bit of interest in his food, and is very large, shiny and black. Bonnie is very small still, doesn't look as shiny and looks a lot more pale, doesn't eat, and doesn't show any interest in food at all. She killed a hopper once and left it there, that was a few days ago but other than that she just runs away. I hope she is okay.

What can I do and what should I do?

Thanks

Jen

She's probably not hungry. My Pandinus imperator went months without eating.

If she ran away from the prey , it might be to large, try a smaller prey item.
If she doesn't take it, try offering her prey once every week, eventually I think she will hunt and eat.
She might even be getting ready to molt, there can be a lot of reasons it refuses food.

No need to get worried yet. Fasting is quite normal with scorpions.

Take care,
Joey

they're probably too stressed out to eat right now. just make sure to provide drinking water at all times and try feeding it again after a week

Orrrrrrrrr. What color is her stinger? I assume she is an emp. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But some of what you described sounds like pre moot behavior. Do you see gaps between here back plates. Dullness in color, lack of appetite and chubby bodies are all indicators of a potential molt.
