So a couple of you guys might have seen this befor some of you would have never seen this befor. It is my communal encloser with V. spinigerus And Coleonyx variegatus it has 2 banded geckos and 2 V. spinigerus in it i had the tank going for a about 6 months until the parasitic nematode wiped out my scorpion collection and the two scorpions died. The V. spiinigerus and the banded gecko have a symbiotic relationship in the wild where they will live in the same hides the geckos will even imitate the scorpions by raising there tails above there back to look like a scorpions tail. But the geckos will protect the scorpions from small predators like ants and the scorpion will protect the geckos from larger predators kinda. There is not much info out there about this relationship i only know of one other person who has done it and that is Mike who works at ken the bug guy. But he helped me out alot with the research that went into setting up this encloser but i just wanted to share it with you guys. There was no fighting between the 2 sp ever. Feel Free to ask any questions about the set up. Is it just this species that does it? That is so cool that they live together without fighting

it was also kinda strange the geckos were not feeding at all until i had introduced them with the scorpions now once i introduced them the geckos started pounding crickets.

This is interesting I've never heard of this. I'll be running this by Kari Mcwest to gets his thoughts on this.

I have a theory. Since you said that these two are very social and work with each other, perhaps once they were introduced with the scorpions, they felt a bit of security knowing they had scorpions in their new territory. But don't take my word for it, it's just a guess.

Man, you should TOTALLY write a [HOW TO] for your setup. So many people would love to have this type of enclosure, I know I would. Very Happy

there is quite a few steps that go into the construction of the cage and how you introduce the two sp. It wasnt quite as simple as throwing the two sp togeather.

the only real problem i ran into was in feeding i would throw in a bunch of small crickets for the geckos and a couple large crickets for the scorpions. But the geckos would always go for the large crickets and are much to larger for them to digest so i would throw in an appropriate size roach to solve the problem to feed the scorpion.

And that’s why we’re asking for a how-to thread. This, if successful, is awesome.

Yes i posted it on venomlist a while back i used to moderate the scorpion section on venomlist and had been a member there for over 8 years. But recently since the site has gone down i have switched over to this site. Iv had an account for a while on this website but i never used it as i generally stick to just one forum and im not a huge fan of archnaboards so Im gona be over here now. sharing a bunch of cool stuff.
