| well, my mums friend from moffat came up for a visit and she knows I like wierd plants, so she brought some cacti... haven't a clue what species they are, I'd like to know at least what genera they are in and whatnot so I can find out where they're from and care for the properly. so, if anyone knows what these species are or if anyone has cared for ones like these, any help is appreciated... I know the basics, no watering in winter, repotting in summer etc.. anyway, cactus No. 1; I have a feeling this one is from Cleistocactus or Helianthoceneus cactus No 2.; (I'm quite curious about this one, mainly because it has a milky oozing substance coming from the base of a few spines which itches and burns for a few hours if you touch it, and because it is growing some company in winter. I also think it might be from Echinocereus) and cactus No. 3; any ideas? _________________ "You can take an animal from the wild, but you cannot take the wild out of the animal"

| yeah, thats what I thought when I got them.. but, after being on a few sites, I think they are all from different places, so the care must vary a little bit... I think the second one is from brazil botany is so goddamn confusing sometimes.. _________________ "You can take an animal from the wild, but you cannot take the wild out of the animal"

| not to hijack my own thread, but I forgot I got this too; bonsai tree! : D it probably won't live long though, it;s not a properly raised bonsai, it's just a seedling tree thats had half of it lopped off. _________________ "You can take an animal from the wild, but you cannot take the wild out of the animal"

| if you got it at a garden centre, chances are it's just a tree taken from the wild thats been chopped in half and put in a wee pot. these ones don't live long... shame. _________________ "You can take an animal from the wild, but you cannot take the wild out of the animal"

| well, I finally got these all ID'ed. No.1 is Cleistocactus winteri but it might be a hybrid... no.2 isn't even a cactus, it's another type of succelent, Euphorbia enopla. It is poisionous if ingested. No.3 is Polaskia chichipe _________________ "You can take an animal from the wild, but you cannot take the wild out of the animal"
