| Holy cow, those are some awesome critters! I'd never even heard of a few of them. The electric hermit crabs are pretty sweet. I've heard mantis shrimp can strike so powerfully they've broken aquariums (usually to their own demise). _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| wow! how big were your tanks??? is that a volitans lionfish? do i see two BTA's there as well or is that some kind of coral. what costs caused you to stop? electricity i would guess lol! must be about 10 plugs per tank! skimmer, heater, power-heads, halides, fan to cool them etc. etc. i was on the verge of turning to marine but had a good long think about the ethical side to it as well as maintainance, cost etc. and decided to leave the live rock in Fiji lol! |

A lot of places do the rock where the live rock is farmed by putting rock into the water and it then gets turned into the live rock over time to be harvested I think TMC does it?
You can also buy captive bred inverts (sessile and not), and fish, in a lot of different species. So, it is do-able, but I agree a lot of the more exciting stuff for marine tanks is wild caught.
But, everything has to be wild caught at some point... we then find out it's requirements for captivity, and breeding, and in the end breed it. Everything has to start somewhere. _________________ 0.2.0 Flat Rock Scorpions, 0.1.0 Emperor Scorpion, 1.1.0 Scorpio maurus, 0.1.0 Smeringurus mesaensis, 0.0.1 Vaejovis (Hoffmannius?) confusus, 0.0.3 Bothriurus keyserlingi
