| So I have a S. subspinipes de haani being shipped out on Monday and I'm pretty stoked since it'll be my first (centi)pede! Anyone have some basic tips for these guys? Main thing that I'm worried about is transferring them when I do maintenance in the enclosure. Pics will be posted upon arrival of the nasty little creature _________________ 0.2.0 P. imperator » 2.1.0 B. jacksoni (gravid) » 0.0.5 L. quinquestriatus 0.0.1 P. cavimanus » 0.0.1 S. subpinipes de haani [still scares the crap out of me!] 0.1.0 B. albopilosum » 1.0.0 G. rosea » 0.0.1 A. aviculara 1.0.0 P. regius » 0.0.2 Anolis carolinensis

| Give it an enclosure with tall, sheer walls and no silicone sealant in the corners if you want to prevent escapes. They can and will run up tweezers / forceps / whatever you try to herd them with. If you really want to prevent escapes during tank maintenance, the best spot to do it in is probably a large bathtub. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| I'm planning on using this pretzel container. Its round, plastic, has a screw-on lid, ~12" high, and ~7" wide. I think that it'd be good for it. Pretty sure that the pede is 5-6". How much substrate should I put in? Is it ok to mix some coco/sand together? What about feeding? Totally new to these guys, so I have a lot of questions _________________ 0.2.0 P. imperator » 2.1.0 B. jacksoni (gravid) » 0.0.5 L. quinquestriatus 0.0.1 P. cavimanus » 0.0.1 S. subpinipes de haani [still scares the crap out of me!] 0.1.0 B. albopilosum » 1.0.0 G. rosea » 0.0.1 A. aviculara 1.0.0 P. regius » 0.0.2 Anolis carolinensis

| That's about what I had my last one in -- I drilled a few holes in the lid but they didn't help the ventilation much (always smelled like carbon dioxide when I opened the lid). You don't need a whole lot of substrate -- some will burrow, some won't. I used coco fiber. They'll almost always feed, so add prey at your own discretion. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| Okay so I have 3-4" of coco fiber and 9 holes in the lid. I used a piece of clay pot for a hide. Hopefully that's good enough for it. They require about as much humidity as an emp, right? _________________ 0.2.0 P. imperator » 2.1.0 B. jacksoni (gravid) » 0.0.5 L. quinquestriatus 0.0.1 P. cavimanus » 0.0.1 S. subpinipes de haani [still scares the crap out of me!] 0.1.0 B. albopilosum » 1.0.0 G. rosea » 0.0.1 A. aviculara 1.0.0 P. regius » 0.0.2 Anolis carolinensis

| Can somebody tell me why a package would be shipped from Chicago, across PA (assuming that they went across PA to get to NJ), to NJ, and then back to PA? They could've made a pit stop. lol _________________ 0.2.0 P. imperator » 2.1.0 B. jacksoni (gravid) » 0.0.5 L. quinquestriatus 0.0.1 P. cavimanus » 0.0.1 S. subpinipes de haani [still scares the crap out of me!] 0.1.0 B. albopilosum » 1.0.0 G. rosea » 0.0.1 A. aviculara 1.0.0 P. regius » 0.0.2 Anolis carolinensis

| Seen similar things happen with a package going from Colorado to Virginia to Oregon. Yay, major hubs. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| Yep,,, just like my guy. Didn't matter when or where, you threw something in there and these guys viciously attacked it. Scorpions or Tarantulas can't compare. _________________ Welcome to Chicago
