| Honestly, this guy scares the living crap out of me! I'm afraid to stick anything in there for fear that it's going to run up it and escape or bite me. _________________ 0.2.0 P. imperator » 2.1.0 B. jacksoni (gravid) » 0.0.5 L. quinquestriatus 0.0.1 P. cavimanus » 0.0.1 S. subpinipes de haani [still scares the crap out of me!] 0.1.0 B. albopilosum » 1.0.0 G. rosea » 0.0.1 A. aviculara 1.0.0 P. regius » 0.0.2 Anolis carolinensis

I've also read a few reports where the afflicted limb was in pain for three days.
So, about on par with a bad C. sculpturatus sting._________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| I'm still debating on making a handling vid ... but my debates are leaning towards the "don't do it" side. I have to study it's behavior a lot more before I even think about that. I'm not sure how frequent this species bites and what triggers it. I also have to study it's movement as well. | They've been known to bite with absolutely no warning whatsoever. I read one report where someone reached in the tank and the 'pede shot out of its burrow and up the guy's arm. It just sat there for a minute, turned around, and stopped long enough to bite the guy's finger before going back down. For the love of , DON'T do it. It's stupid, irresponsible, and unbecoming of a mod.
You know Cacoseraph from AB who intentionally gets bit by centipedes to see what the venom is like? In one of his videos, he reached for the S. subspinipes tank before pulling his arm back and saying "Just kidding!"_________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| That's crazy! I've noticed that their sensory features are a lot better than other inverts. My scorps and Ts would never of noticed the cricket that fast! Yeah. I'm definitely not going to attempt this. I'll handle any buthid over this guy any day. And yeah, I've heard of Cacoseraph. He's a crazy dude! _________________ 0.2.0 P. imperator » 2.1.0 B. jacksoni (gravid) » 0.0.5 L. quinquestriatus 0.0.1 P. cavimanus » 0.0.1 S. subpinipes de haani [still scares the crap out of me!] 0.1.0 B. albopilosum » 1.0.0 G. rosea » 0.0.1 A. aviculara 1.0.0 P. regius » 0.0.2 Anolis carolinensis

| What do you think the chances of a myocardial infarction (heart attack) happening after being envenomated is in a young male such as myself? I might end up getting rid of this guy. All of this stuff I'm reading is pretty scary. Btw, I have " Mitral Valve Prolapse." I think that I fall into the category of "infirm" even though it feels like I'm growing out of it as time goes on. Haven't had any bad episodes in about two years. _________________ 0.2.0 P. imperator » 2.1.0 B. jacksoni (gravid) » 0.0.5 L. quinquestriatus 0.0.1 P. cavimanus » 0.0.1 S. subpinipes de haani [still scares the crap out of me!] 0.1.0 B. albopilosum » 1.0.0 G. rosea » 0.0.1 A. aviculara 1.0.0 P. regius » 0.0.2 Anolis carolinensis

Generally, MVP is a benign disorder. However, MVP patients with a murmur, not just an isolated click, have a general mortality rate that is increased by 15-20% |

| Thanks for the info but I didn't really get what you said. I'm not sure what a "benign disorder" is. The only time my heart acts up is usually when I bend down to pick something up and breathe the wrong way -- then it'll start beating hard and fast -- but I can usually get it under control within seconds. The last time I had an episode was roughly two-years-ago. I did what I just mentioned and it wouldn't stop. When that happens, I take meds to make me calm ... Sometimes so calm that I pass out. I'm not sure what type of role this would play in a case of an envenomation by my de haani or LQs. Edit: Found out what "benign" means _________________ 0.2.0 P. imperator » 2.1.0 B. jacksoni (gravid) » 0.0.5 L. quinquestriatus 0.0.1 P. cavimanus » 0.0.1 S. subpinipes de haani [still scares the crap out of me!] 0.1.0 B. albopilosum » 1.0.0 G. rosea » 0.0.1 A. aviculara 1.0.0 P. regius » 0.0.2 Anolis carolinensis

| I don't think you need to get rid of a 'pede because of that sort of health condition -- I just think you need to exercise normal caution (which includes not handling them). _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |
