As most of you know this species can be extremely defensive at times and likes to ambush, as i very well found out.

Reached my hand in to take out its water dish and it sprung out of a hide and grabbed my pinky with a claw and hit me with a sting. Scared the living bajeezus out of me, left a good red mark where he grabbed me too. The sting felt like someone pushed a small thumb tack into my finger and left it there for about a 20 seconds, he got me good. But 10minutes later I couldn't find ...

This is the first time I've ever been stung. I was rehousing my adult pair of Hadogenes paucidens, and my male was relaxed enough to let me tail him without problem. My female decided to be a bit more feisty and somehow managed to flip her tail around and tag the side of my index finger.

The initial pain was just a "prick" sensation, and me wondering if I'd actually gotten tagged. It later rose to a dull, slightly throbbing, but almost non-existant pain. A few minutes later ...

but....

after my fingertip had finished stinging, every time i put pressure on my finger it would sting again for about 3-5 mins. go away again until i put pressure on and it would happen again

ANNOYING!!!!

for about 2 hours this went on for as well!

When I bought 3 Emperors the guy at the shop gave me one of these for free and I was kinda nervous not knowing too much about it. I went to pick it up by the tail and since their tails are so long it managed to get me on the tip of my finger. I look at it and I saw blood and felt the burn of the venom. I started to panic and Googled to see if it was dangerous but I figured no cause it didn't hurt too much. I haven't tried grabbing it again lol.

This afternoon I had a BugZoo presentation at an area middle school. I was handling an adult female and trying to scootch her onto a student's hand by nudging he from behind. She gave me a brief tail-flick before moving. I felt a slight prick similar to when my H. paucidens stung me, so I thought perhaps she connected.

After about a minute or two I felt a very slight tingling in the tip of the finger she stung. This passed after about five to ten minutes.

Hello, glad to find this website. I am here not so much to share my story as I am to connect with some scorpion enthusiasts and hopefully gather very important information.

In 2002 I was stung five times on my upper/inner thighs by a bark scorpion. It was a profound experience for me including hallucinations that gave me a first-hand experience of the scorpion... psyche. Bad word, but there just aren't words to describe the impressions I experienced. I was plagued by certain symptoms ...

I have handled this species a number of times without ever coming close to being stung. I do have one female I avoid though because she has stung a brush as I was attempting to rehouse them. My first ever scorpion sting came from an emp someone gave to me for free while at work. As I was demonstrating to some coworkers (I work at PetsMart, by the way) the anatomy and docile nature of this specimen he perked up and began to crawl around my hand. Most of my scorpions have no problem holding onto ...

Hello.

Back in the early 90's I had a commune tank with B. Jacksoni's (red thick tails) and Centruroides Gracilis (Florida Bark Scorpions) and have been tagged by both. The stings from both were very painful and I assume that's because they managed to squeeze out a good deal of venom in the stings. It felt like liquid fire inside my hand that spread outward from the sting site. The pain lasted roughly 24 hours with stings from both. Not something I'd really want to feel again.

Just got my 1 inch Hets. from a friend, housed in a small microwave container for transportation. As soon as I got into the car, I lifted the lid to check on them and one of them scurried up my shirt, into my shirt before I could do anything(these guys are fast).
