Assuming you are already using a false bottom set up here are some things to help you with your tropical enclosure. This will keep food alive longer, reduce cleaning to almost nothing and get rid of mites.

-Buy some Decorative moss at a petshop. (the kind that you keep poison dart frogs in). This will feed any crickets you dump in there as well as help with your humidity. And put it your enclosure however you like

Some of the dudes liked the way I setup my scorpion habitats (much appreciated) so as requested I thought I'd post some kind of 'tutorial' on the methods... First and foremost, I don't consider myself a certified professional or expert at this (I'm sure there are better people out there), but with sufficient research on the internet and a couple of years of experience, I've formulated my own kind of 'recipe' when it comes to crafting a vivarium/terrarium habitat suitable for any AFS (namely scorpions ...

Hey everyone. I'm relatively new to the scorpion world.... in as much to say i dont have any scorps until couple weeks time. I'm building the habitat and wondered if this would work or would it be a problem.......

A double level terrarium (basically 2x 4ft long terrariums, one on top of the other with the top cut through on one and bottom cut on the other) would it be wise if i had one level for say Hadrurus arizonensis, sandy environment, and then the second level for say Pandinus imperator, ...

If you keep scorpions or tarantulas that require a high level of moisture / humidity here's a really simple tip that you may or may not have already thought of. I currently have a 10 gallon communal Emperor tank with 8 scorpions. I covered the entire top of the tank with a sheet of saran wrap and put a few small slits in it for ventilation. I placed the screen lid on top of the wrap / tank and pulled the wrap tight. It does what it is supposed to do. This is more of a tip for beginners.

First of all lets define hot box. What is a hot box? Any enclosure specifically made hot to increase the scorpions metabolism.

Some things to remember:

- A hot box if done incorrectly can kill your scorpion

- A hot box will shorten the lifespan of your scorpion

- Ventilation is the key

There are many ways to make a hotbox I'm gonna show you what I use and how I do it. I only keep certain inverts i'm trying to breed and need them to grow just a bit faster. After a few molts or when ...

Hi guys how are you I'm new to this site. I was checking out the site and thought I would mention that I found this DVD on keeping Australian Scorpions for beginners. I bought it and was surprised on how much info this guy is giving out it runs for about hour and a half and it covers every thing. I scored it on eBay I know that most on here are in America but I would say scorpions are pretty much the same the world over when it comes to keeping. It helped me with my scorpions, care sheets just ...

Thought i would post this because a lot of people preserve their scorpions in some sort of liquid (cant remember off the top of my head what its called!!!) but i have noticed that these preserved examples lose their colour... I found a way that pretty much keeps a high percentage of the colour and is very cheap although can be fiddly to do depending on which way you do it... and the main ingredient???? EXTRA HOLD HAIRSPRAY... because they're worth it (sorry!)

Most people keep their Emps in a ten gallon tank and have trouble maintaining the humidity at the proper level. Humidity gauges don't work very well so I recomend if you have one throw it out now because if you follow these steps you will have the perceft humidity reguardless of what your hydrometer says

SUPPLIES

-CLEAN TANK (can use other enclosures such as KK or Plastic containers)

-Gravel ( you can buy enough gravel for under three dollars at Home Depot)

-A screen mesh ( i uses ...

Hey Guys and Girls

This is kinda meant for people that aren't used to a lot of the terms and some biology terms that are thrown around here so I will try to explain a bit, this might help you out when you need to ask something.

Well, let's start with the sexing codes. Instead of writing Male, Female, or not sexed, some clever person have come up with a set of numbers that will explain it more easily. Let's use an example.

1.3.5 B. jacksoni

What this code means is 1 male, ...
