I beleive I'll make this my third invert buddy. According to Orin McMonigle's Whipscorpion/Whipspider book, they can be kept humid just like Emps but are fine at room temp. I know that TC currently has 1" Thelyphonus caudatus available and I'm tempted to give it a go, despite its diminutive size (about 1.5" ~ 1.75" adult size from what I'm reading on McMonigle's book).

Anyone has already kept these guys ?

Are they as hardy as Mastigoproctus giganteus or am I better off ...

This was my first arachnid pet, I didn't know what they looked like and my cousin had a huge supply living in the country here in white co. , southern Illinois, so he caught one to show me, been hooked since. Had them wc from nearly world record 3in leg span to nickel size, even one that was clear when caught, guessing freshly molted but awsome looking. The problem is that the only info I can find is on bites or how to get rid of them. I've kept them for around 8 years and learned alot, and still ...

how aggro are Avicularia sp?do they flick hairs much? i just bought 10 slings from spidershop and one is an avic.

also what is the temperament of Cyclosternum fasciatum like? these are the only two i am unsure on.

so all together i spent £42.94 on:

1x Avicularia sp. "Peru Purple"

1x Cyclosternum fasciatum

                5x Brachypelma vagans

                2x Euathlus sp. "Red"

1x Grammostola pulcheripes

the avic is 2cm and the rest are 1cm.

For those of you who don't know or weren't around, Tragedy Ann is one of my H. lividums. She's been a psycho since I got her back in February and it hasn't helped that I've rehoused her a few times as space allowed. When I got her, she had 7 legs; she now has 8 thanks to her last molt. At any rate, I used to just dump crickets in her enclosure and if she wanted them, she'd eat them and if not, she'd let them crawl all over her. She's in a 10gal now with the substrate designed like a hill, 4"+ ...

i raised 1.1 Sicarius hahni (Namibia) from slings. they grow adult in about a year. i haven't noticed any aggressive or mating behaviour, after introducing the male into the females enclosure. everytime i was observing, they just did what they do all the time, hiding buried in sand, pretty boring spiders to keep.

3 weeks later, she started building an egg sac. i'll keep you updated as soon as the spiderlings hatch.

This one kept the P. liosoma company on the plane ride. I shot the pictures through plastic as its habitat is a "kritter keeper" step-up on end. It was a definite challenge getting it from the vial as well. It was designated 3 inches on purchase.

I'm borrowing a friend's male (visible in picture 1) and it looks like he did what I was hoping he would.

When he first met with the female, there was a bit of a standoff -- holding out pedipalps as if to say "I'm spikey! Back off!" The night before I found this we could see someone's antenniform legs moving about and thought they may be mating.

i remember seeing one of these in spain so im wondering what its doing here in the UK? the closest think i can find to what it is is Argiope bruennichi. can it be the same species as what i saw in spain? if so how powerful is its venom? will it have much of an effect on anything larger than a fly?

here it (she, i think as the male is apparently a lot smaller) is:
