Assuming a scorpion nut doesn't have access to swaps and shows, or doesn't field collect down south, is there a better time of the year to buy? I just did overnight due to the weather, but do regular mail shipping deals ever pop up during the summer? How do you guys buy/trade with each other, when somebody just posts that one of their scorps have popped?

Assuming you were going to gather different species over time, and one dealer didn't have everything you wanted.. several shipments ...

Without a doubt positive!!

I've just received my order today from Adam and I gotta say, he does an excellent job at packing them. I went through a little bit of trouble at the post office when picking them up (the mail from my town wasn't supposed to be at that PO), but that's not Adam's fault whatsoever. Contact with Adam was a breeze. We had no miscommunications. He even went out of his way to give me an adult pair of Emperors. He also through in a FREE B. jacksoni on top of my order!! ...

Well, I think I'm going to start going nuts in this hobby just like many of you have. In a good way or course. Scorpions are way cheaper than snakes. I have several containers, and would like have a hide of some sort in each, and other habitat pieces.

What do breeders, or people with larger collections use? I don't have access to shows etc. A tiny and cheaply made hide box or cork bark on these supply sites is very expensive for what you get. Often 8$ for a half coconut shell etc. ...

Yep, strange as it sounds, when I woke up today my emp was on his side, quite peaceful looking. I'm sure it was another seizure episode cause his legs were all drawn up under him, but instead of grabbing a camera for a pic, I opened the top and he casually rolled over and walked away. Sorry I missed the pic Mike, but thanks for the idea he could be messing with me, I'm really beginning to believe it's just that.

I caught this guy when visiting my aunts house up in the mountains in CA. I found a smaller one but let him go and brought the bigger one back with me. I have never been to interested in them...but I have to admit they are pretty crazy as a pet. Feeding him has been awesome. He has a lot of blue/green colors as well.

Tip on Dubia breeding

I was having an issue with Dubia breeding, and was frustrated I couldn't get a coach roach to breed.

I had a young and hungry leopard gecko that needed roach babies to eat. Since I had over 50 adults, I had to wait. Every day I would pull apart their habitat and look for new babies. I was actually disturbing them.

I bought some super worms, and checked on the roaches after 3-4 days and had tons of babies. It is interesting that even such a basic creature reacts to stress.

I want you all to support myself and my beard growth, as I will be very tempted to shave it as it gets itchier and itchier.

I shall be updating this thread with pics every few weeks

I was wondering what everyone thought about using madagascar hissing cockroaches to feed my scorp. Does anyone think a scorpion would have a tough time chomping through that hard shell? I was also curious about the nutritional value of night crawlers, anyone have any info on them?

Just one simple question. Will my emp eat crickets that are already dead? I keep buying bugtubs that I get at my local pet store and they have like... 50 crickets in it (smallest one you can get). But before I get them fed to my emp Xena, there's about 30 crickets that are already dead in the container.

I feel as though im wasting money on those bug tubs, but that's the only way I can get crickets around here. So will she eat them even though they're already dead? And will she still get ...

I posted a topic a few weeks ago. I have a p. cavimanus (red claw). I've had him for about 3 years now and I'm not too sure of how old he was when I bought him. I had random gnats. Got rid of them. Now I have these little white mites. Try as I may, I have yet to find an answer as to what they ...

PIRATES!

Edit

Store Location: Calgary (Signal Hill), Alberta, Canada.

$59.99 for a 2i Flat Rock.

$25.00 for a medium piece of bark.

Absurd prices aside, they just seem unknowledgeable. A tank bundle advertised as appropriate for emps, consisted of a uv heat lamp, sand, and a desert rock for hiding. I don't remember it being like this when I worked there. Hopefully I have better luck at Petcetera, or another chain.

Haven't seen my scorpion (Pandinus Cav, Red Claw) in almost 2 weeks. It dug a fairly long and deep burrow. Hasn't came out in almost 2 weeks. Didn't know it it was dead or alive. Started poking around, removing some of the substrate trying to find it, suddenly something grabs onto the small dowel I was digging with. Apparently, it's alive and well in there. Prob mad that I disturbed it though. I damage the burrow with the digging. I hate that because I don't want to stress it. Just wanted to ...

i am now in the process of planning a 6' emp tank! i just bought it off ebay for £8.59 lol! if it holds water it can be an emp tank until 2011 when i will want it to be used as a fishtank. if it leaks the emps can have it permanently.
how many do you think i could have? and does anyone have any? about 4i?
will have to make a lid and stand for it but thats not a problem really.
i will be setting this up when i get the tank in november.
any advice is welcome!

Need help making a choice for 2nd scorp

Ok, so I left the LPS manager a list of desirable species which should be a bit easier to look after than my emp. This means desert species or species that require less humidity than emps. The following were my choices, in no particular order.

There is just one specific requirement : I want a species that will be comfy in a medium kritter keeper.

So anyways, on with my picks...

Androctonus australis

Babycurus jacksoni

Hadrurus arizonensis

Leiurus quinquestriatus

Parabuthus ...

Sicarius hahni

i raised 1.1 Sicarius hahni (Namibia) from slings. they grow adult in about a year. i haven't noticed any aggressive or mating behaviour, after introducing the male into the females enclosure. everytime i was observing, they just did what they do all the time, hiding buried in sand, pretty boring spiders to keep.

3 weeks later, she started building an egg sac. i'll keep you updated as soon as the spiderlings hatch.
