| At the place where I work, a plastics manufacturing company, we make a lot of pieces for Habasit. They mainly do plastic conveyor belts of all sorts. Pretty monotonous work if you ask me ... Moving from machine to machine checking for flaws, cutting, trimming flash, flattening, bending, et cetera. Another thing we were making were the control panel casings for the Perimeter wireless dog fences. And another thing we make are battery housings that get shipped to places like Exide. We have these HUGE machines there that inject plastic into custom molds (like in this link). I haven't really learned how to operate them yet besides putting them in manual mode and opening/closing the mold. I'll learn more when I'm there longer. This is only my second week so far A lot of the stuff that gets made there I have no idea what it is lol. Its pretty interesting to find out what it is _________________ 0.2.0 P. imperator » 2.1.0 B. jacksoni (gravid) » 0.0.5 L. quinquestriatus 0.0.1 P. cavimanus » 0.0.1 S. subpinipes de haani [still scares the crap out of me!] 0.1.0 B. albopilosum » 1.0.0 G. rosea » 0.0.1 A. aviculara 1.0.0 P. regius » 0.0.2 Anolis carolinensis

| My job as a research assistant is now ending in January instead of February . . . why? 'Cause I'm starting grad school in January! So at that point I'll be a Graduate Research Assistant, making about the same money but working towards a master's degree in chemical engineering. My thesis will probably involve bio-compatible materials or something along those lines, as my major professor is a bioengineer who does a lot of work with interfacial studies. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| This is one of those threads where it's fun and doesn't matter if it gets old (it's not an old "my scorp is dying!" thread from three years ago where advice is irrelevant). So post what you do for a living! And the year is visible in the top of the very first post. It's actually from May of this year (six pages ago, anyway). _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| I can finally make a new real post in this thread! The grad school thing started to fall through because the grants for that one professor fell through . . . was looking into just applying and being a TA . . . but then I suddenly got a "real" job! I'm currently a process control / optimization engineering intern at a pulp and paper mill. I've only had one "real" day so far, but I think my focus is going to be on calibrating consistency meters to make sure they're reading accurately. (Consistency = mass concentration of wood fibers in pulp, expressed as percentage.) _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blogBe nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |
